27/7: Executive's guide to Social Media and why it matters in China

Executive's guide to Social Media

and why it matters in China

Session Overview:

Much has been said about the size of China's Internet population, but few realize the extent to which China's netizens are involved with and influenced by Social Media.

Simply put, Chinese netizens are among the most highly engaged users of Social Media in the world. While 19 percent of US netizens say purchase decisions are influenced by interactions online, 58% of their Chinese counterparts?have changed their purchases based on consumer reviews, ratings sites, forums and discussion boards, according to a recent study by Roland Berger Associates.

While this dramatic shift has taken place among consumers, many companies have failed to understand the opportunities or appreciated the risks. A digital divide has been growing, with top executives at many companies failing to understand that online conversations in China - and around the world - are making and breaking brands every day.

This speech will present Social Media in China and around Asia seen through the optic of strategies developed by the award winning Social Media team at Ogilvy.
